Winds was set up in 2011 by Barthelemy Fougea to make the feature-length On the way to school.
2 million viewers worldwide saw the film, and it was awarded the French Cesar for Best Documentary.

Winds believes in creating an event around its strongest, most creative and innovative projects.

In 2015, A night in Africa made its mark in the history of wildlife film-making by showing the very first images in 4K UHD and in colour of the night-time world of southern Africa.
